    The media industry and staff of ARISE News Channel are mourning the untimely and tragic death of one of their own, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu.

    The deceased, who is popularly referred to as Sommie, was killed in the early hours of Monday, 29th September, 2025, during a robbery at her residence in Katampe, Abuja.

    According to preliminary reports, the incident is currently under investigation by the Nigerian Police, with calls growing for a swift and thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding the attack and for those responsible to be brought to justice.

    Sommie, who is just 29, was a talented news anchor, reporter, and producer, and a cherished member of the ARISE News team.

    Her professionalism, warmth, and dedication to journalistic integrity made her a respected figure both within the newsroom and among viewers across Nigeria and beyond.

    In addition to her work in journalism, Sommie was a trained lawyer and a passionate communicator whose presence left a lasting impact on everyone she worked with.

    She was known for her intelligence, compassion, and infectious energy, which endeared her to colleagues and audiences alike.

    Her sudden passing has sent shockwaves through the media industry, and tributes have continued to pour in from friends, family, and professional associates.

    May her soul rest in peace.
