Former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited, Paul Adom-Otchere, has accused the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central in the Central Region, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, of being influenced by money to remain silent in his advocacy.

According to Adom-Otchere, who doubles as media personality and host of Good Evening Ghana on Metro TV, A Plus, who is widely known for openly criticizing the ills of government, has suddenly gone quiet due to alleged monetary inducement from the ruling government.

Speaking on his Good Evening Ghana show, Adom-Otchere maintained his position, accusing A Plus of receiving GHC 200,000 and an extra GHC 100,000 for a project in his constituency, and allegedly pocketing the funds to silence his once-vocal criticism of government.

He further claimed that A Plus has benefited from a GHC 400,000 parliamentary fund and has, as a result, lost his credibility as someone who used to hold governments accountable.

“A Plus, are you the same person? Are you the same A Plus who is now taking GHC 200,000 in Parliament that you claim will be used for a project in your constituency, and an extra GHC 150,000?” he questioned.

“Are you the same person who saw so much corruption in the NDC government and even played a song for the NPP to win power?

“When the NPP came into power, you said they were thieves and went on UTV to criticize them. But now, what are you doing? Is that the reason why we voted for you? To join Parliament and receive GHC 400,000 in your pocket when we can’t even pay BECE registration fees? Kwame A Plus, our ‘saviour’, is this what politics does to people?” Adom-Otchere added.

Meanwhile, A Plus has denied the allegations of pocketing any GHC 200,000.

He explained that the funds in question are part of a government policy to support development projects by Members of Parliament.

According to him, the money, which he is yet to receive, will not pass through him directly but will be disbursed through the District Assembly for the intended development works.
