AOW Energy CEO Paul Sinclair and newly appointed Acting CEO of the Petroleum Commission, Emeafa Hardcastle, have met to reinforce their respective commitments to making the Africa Oil Week Energy Summit in Accra the most prominent event for the African upstream sector.

The Petroleum Commission and AOW were in full agreement and aligned in their partnership, emphasising the need to collaborate and accelerate oil and gas development across Africa, a statement said.

It was acknowledged that Ghana is reviving its ambition to increase production by aggressively promoting its hydrocarbon potential to drive new exploration and ensure the country fully benefits from its oil and gas resources.

Local content and equitable growth were identified as key focal areas, not just for Ghana but for the entire African region and Ghana is committed to supporting regional development in upstream exploration and production.

AOW Energy will ensure this objective is at the forefront of its 2025 programme in Accra. The event will serve as the premier platform to drive meaningful discussions, transactions, and investments that will shape the future of the African upstream sector.

Emeafa Hardcastle indicated that AOW Energy provides an unparalleled opportunity for international investors to gain insights into the Ghana Government’s vision of increasing competitiveness in the upstream sector.

She also emphasized Ghana’s strong geological potential, which remains central to the Government’s strategy for growing the country’s hydrocarbon reserves.

“As a Government, Ghana for the first time will be hosting regulators and National Oil Companies, International Oil Companies and Service Providers from across the region to ensure that the upstream sector in Africa remains at the centre of the global energy debate,” said Hardcastle.

She added that “We look forward to what is already set to be the most compelling AOW on record and hosting the Regulator Network on a dedicated platform to shape future policy with our private sector stakeholders to discuss new projects and opportunities.”

The upcoming AOW Energy Summit in Accra is set to be a landmark event, driving key discussions and unlocking opportunities for investment and growth in the African oil and gas sector on the energy calendar with Ministers, IOCs, NOCs, Service Providers, Regulators, and many more convening to broker new deals in the African upstream sector.
