Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has faced major backlash after she took to social media calling Donald Trump ‘a rapist’ – leaving many to suggest that the president should sue her for defamation.

The New York congresswoman sparked outrage on Friday after she posted on X about Trump and the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files.

‘Wow who would have thought that electing a rapist would have complicated the release of the Epstein Files?,’ Ocasio-Cortez wrote.

Trump has been accused of sexual misconduct against multiple women since the 1970s, all of which he has denied.

AOC appeared to be referring to Trump’s 2023 civil trial where he was found liable for sexually abusing columnist E. Jean Carroll in 1996.

Trump was not found liable of rape in the case – leading many to call her out for her ‘defamatory’ comment.

‘AOC Donald Trump has not been criminally convicted of rape,’ a user wrote.

‘As a congress woman, with such broad reach, you should be aware of this and act and speak appropriately. This is defamation.’

‘Lawyer up – you’re going to need it,’ wrote another.

‘Do you think you are above the law? I hope you get sued for defamation,’ someone else said.

Far-right activist Laura Loomer also chimed in, telling Ocasio-Cortez: ‘I hope you have millions ready for Trump, Porky.’

‘Donald Trump has not been criminally convicted of being a rapist. This is defamatory,’ she added.

The Trump ally went on to compare the congresswoman’s comment to the legal situation between the president and ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos.

‘And I hope you are sued by Trump for this the same way George Stephanopoulos was sued and forced to pay Trump $15 million dollars,’ Loomer wrote.

Stephanopoulos erroneously claimed on-air that the president was found ‘liable for rape’- rather than the correct phrasing of sexual abuse – against Carroll last March.

Trump sued Stephanopoulos and the network for defamation soon after the segment aired, accusing the anchor of making the statements with ‘malice’ and a disregard for the truth.

As part of the settlement, Stephanopoulos was forced to issue a public apology.

Others also brought up the journalist in relation to her tweet.

‘George Stephanopoulos might advise you to take down this tweet,’ one wrote.

Another wrote: ‘You better watch what you say, sweetie! George Stephanopoulos had to pay 15 million to Trump for defamation. Words matter.’

Ocasio-Cortez’s comment comes after reports of a heated internal dispute involving FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino and Attorney General Pam Bondi over the controversial Epstein files.

The reported argument stemmed from the Trump administration’s handling of the billionaire’s so-called ‘client list.’

Bondi came under fire for the call she made earlier this week, when she squashed speculation that Epstein’s 2019 jail cell death was anything other than a suicide and that none of the available evidence included a so-called ‘client list.’

The disgraced financier and convicted child sex offender was found hanging from his jail cell with sheets on August 10, 2019 and pronounced dead that day.

The Attorney General has defended the memo, citing court orders and the protection of victims’ identities as legal barriers to further disclosure.

Bongino, however, gave an ultimatum over the Justice Department’s handling of the sensitive files, the Daily Mail can reveal, claiming he ‘is considering resigning’ if Bondi does not step down.

Bongino reportedly ‘took the day off’ from work on Friday, Axios reported, and a source close to Bongino said ‘he ain’t coming back.’

Despite affirmation from the Attorney General, backlash to the memo has been particularly fierce among those who anticipated major revelations tied to Epstein’s network.

On Saturday, FBI Director Kash Patel publicly dismissed speculation he is set to walk out amid conspiracies surrounding the Epstein case.

Patel spoke out to address a rumored rift inside the Trump administration over the Justice Department’s handling of the long-awaited Epstein files.

‘The conspiracy theories just aren’t true, never have been,’ Patel posted on X. ‘It’s an honor to serve the President of the United States @realDonaldTrump — and I’ll continue to do so for as long as he calls on me.’

Trump then responded to rumors of an apparent rift in his administration and fiercely defended Bondi.

What’s going on with my “boys” and, in some cases, “gals?” They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB!’ Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

‘We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening. We have a PERFECT Administration, THE TALK OF THE WORLD, and “selfish people” are trying to hurt it, all over a guy who never dies, Jeffrey Epstein.’

Trump then tried to blame the Epstein debacle on Democrats for launching countless investigations against him – before defending Bondi again and calling for unity among his base.

‘LET PAM BONDI DO HER JOB — SHE’S GREAT!’ he continued. ‘One year ago our Country was DEAD, now it’s the “HOTTEST” Country anywhere in the World. Let’s keep it that way, and not waste Time and Energy on Jeffrey Epstein, somebody that nobody cares about.’
