The Bawku Central Member of Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has assured that the National Democratic Congress Caucus is ready to return to Parliament for business to resume should the Speaker recall them.

Speaking about the developments in Parliament, Ayariga expressed his side’s readiness to respond to the Speaker’s call.

According to him, the NDC MPs are committed to fulfilling their legislative responsibilities, regardless of the political divide and tensions between the NPP and NDC, myjoyonline.com reports.

Ayariga further stated that they are ready to accept the Speaker’s verdict regarding which caucus will be the Minority or Majority.

“Many of them [the NPP MPs] are in their constituencies campaigning and so any time the Speaker calls us, we will come and anytime the Speaker says we are the Minority, we will listen to him, but he hasn’t said that,” Ayariga said.

Ayariga also criticized the NPP MPs for not taking parliamentary business seriously, attributing their underrepresentation in Parliament on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, to this.

Additionally, Mahama Ayariga criticised the actions of the NPP MPs, suggesting that their disruption of proceedings was part of a broader plan led by Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin.

He implied that Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, the former Majority Leader, was attempting to maintain his position and influence within the House by creating confusion during the session.
