Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has disclosed the reason for hitting a guitar celebration after scoring in Manchester City’s victory over Leeds United at Elland Road.

The 26-year-old continues to hog the headlines with his impressive form for the Premier League title-chasers, netting his fourth goal in seven league games to close the gap at the top to two.

Semenyo slid home at the stroke of half time from an Rayan Ait-Nouri cross to secure all three points for the visitors.

During his celebration, Semenyo gestured a guitar playing performance, which he revealed was his friends idea.

“A few friends said I should do something funny, so it’s the first thing that came up in my head,” he said after the game.

“Nice guitar, good performance, crowd loved it and that’s it.”

Manchester City now keep the pressure on leaders Arsenal, who face Chelsea at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

“It means everything [to close the gap]. We just want to win all our games on our side and whatever Arsenal do we’ll have to wait and see,’ Semenyo added while explaining the importance of the victory.

“We have to control what we can control.”
