Ghanaian forward, Antoine Semenyo, has said that Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk is one of the toughest defenders he has faced in his footballing career.

According to him, it was difficult to dribble past the Dutch defender due to his brilliant footballing skills, which set him apart from his colleagues.

The Bournemouth attacker also indicated that Tottenham Hotspur’s Destiny Udogie, as well as Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina, are among the defenders he struggled to thrive against in matches.

Speaking in an interview with Bleacher Report, the Black Stars forward shared his thoughts on some of the best defenders he has encountered.

“Van Dijk was tough when we played them [against Liverpool] home and away. I think Udogie as well. He is a tough player to come up against. Ola Aina is also up there. I think those three,” he noted.

The 25-year-old has been putting up an incredible performance, scoring seven goals and making four assists in 27 matches in the 2024/2025 season.

Reports indicate that Semenyo’s top performances have drawn interest from European clubs, including Arsenal.
