Ghana striker Antoine Semenyo endured a low moment on Sunday as he missed a penalty during Bournemouth’s 4-0 defeat to Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Despite being one of the Cherries’ standout performers this season, contributing six goals and three assists, the missed spot-kick was a rare setback for the 24-year-old forward.

Evanilson earned the penalty after nodding a corner against Morgan Rogers’ arm, giving Semenyo a golden chance to pull one back for his side.

However, Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez made a strong, low save to keep the scoreline intact, leaving Semenyo and his teammates frustrated.

The miss came in an otherwise industrious performance, with Semenyo causing problems for Villa’s defence throughout the match through his movement, physicality, and link-up play.

His contributions this season have made him Bournemouth’s most consistent attacking threat.

Semenyo will now turn his attention to international duty as he joins the Ghana Black Stars for the Kirin Cup friendlies against South Korea and Japan.

Despite the disappointment at Villa Park, he remains a key figure for both club and country and will look to bounce back quickly in upcoming matches.
