Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo was involved in a heated flashpoint during AFC Bournemouth’s 4-4 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday, December 15, 2025.

With the game delicately poised at 1-1 and just two minutes remaining before half-time, Semenyo and Diogo Dalot contested an aerial ball near the halfway line.

As both players leapt, Dalot made contact without appearing to play the ball, shoving Semenyo mid-air.

The Bournemouth forward was sent flying and landed awkwardly, a fall that could have easily resulted in a serious injury.

The challenge immediately sparked anger. Semenyo, clearly upset by the nature of the foul and the danger it posed, sprang to his feet and charged towards Dalot.

In the confrontation that followed, the Ghana international appeared to place his hands around Dalot’s neck in a moment of frustration, prompting players from both sides to rush in and defuse the situation.

Despite the severity of the landing and the aggressive reaction, the referee opted not to show a red card to either player.

Dalot escaped further punishment for the aerial challenge, while Semenyo was not sent off for his hands-to-the-neck gesture, a decision that drew mixed reactions from fans and pundits alike.
