Andre Onana (in white) arrived in Cameroon via a motor bike

Andre Onana’s return to Cameroon after the World Cup qualifier defeat to Cape Verde took an unusual twist. The Manchester United goalkeeper was spotted riding on the back of a commercial motorbike, his head covered in an attempt to go unnoticed.

Fresh from a 1-0 loss in which he was blamed for the decisive goal, the 29-year-old slipped onto the motorbike, known locally as an “Okada,” hoping to blend in with the crowd.

But even under disguise, he was quickly recognised by fans, one of whom filmed the scene as the shot-stopper clung to the bike.

Onana’s performance in Praia had drawn heavy criticism. In the 53rd minute, Cape Verde striker Rocha Livramento picked up possession in midfield, burst through the heart of Cameroon’s defence, and beat the keeper with ease.

Onana stayed rooted to his line before diving the wrong way, leaving the striker to score what proved to be the winner.

The defeat dented Cameroon’s hopes of sealing early qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and moved Cape Verde closer to a historic place at the finals.
