Captain Planet, a member of the now defunct-Ghanaian music group 4X4, has revealed that a prominent industry player has expressed interest in acquiring the group’s entire music catalogue.

Taking to his social media platform X, the rapper shared what he described as “good news,” announcing that a big industry player had reached out with a proposal to purchase the group’s music rights.

Captain Planet further noted that while he is keen to begin discussions, his group mates Coded and Fresh Prince have not yet finalised their stance on the deal. However, he expects conversations to take place with them soon.

“Good news guys. I just had a call from one big industry player that a company wants to buy 4×4 music catalog. Let me call Coded & Fresh Prince. I will be back. He said, ‘Planet I no dey joke oo so get back to me,’” he posted.

The news has since sparked mixed reactions among fans, with some opposing the idea of selling the catalogue.

Despite the mixed reactions online, Captain Planet has stood by the legitimacy of the offer, insisting that such deals are increasingly common in the music industry.

“If I should tell you guys the number of your favourites who have sold their music catalogues and live performances secretly… some of them are still in negotiations. Your artist no tell you say dem sell their catalogues secretly,” he added.
