Former British professional boxer Amir Khan has expressed his gratitude to Sharaf and Shahid Mahama, sons of President John Dramani Mahama, for their hospitality and support during his visit to Ghana.
Khan praised the brothers for making him see the need to host a boxing show in Ghana and recognising the potential of Ghana as a host for boxing events.
Khan revealed that many boxing promoters had overlooked Ghana as a venue, but Sharaf and Shahid approached him to host a show in the country.
According to Khan, he saw this as an opportunity to make history and promote boxing in Ghana.
This development follows the success of Sharaf Mahama’s “Battle of the Beasts” event, which garnered significant attention in the boxing world and highlighted the sport’s potential in Ghana.
Khan’s appreciation for the Mahama brothers’ kindness emphasises the impact of their effort to promote boxing in the country.
