American passports will include a portrait of President Donald Trump, it has been announced.
The limited-edition passports will feature a large picture of Trump’s face sitting directly in the middle of the Declaration of Independence.
The commander-in-chief’s gold signature is seen below his image and above large text that reads ‘United States of America.’
The new design is part of the Trump administration’s ‘America250’ celebration, which will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026.
The passport is set to be released this summer, and only a ‘limited number’ of them will be available, State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said.
It will be a default document for people who apply for a passport at the Washington DC passport office, with 25,000 to 30,000 available to applicants beginning right before the holiday.
Those who want a standard passport will be allowed to get one by applying online or outside Washington DC, according to officials.
A small gold laminate American flag with the number 250, surrounded by 13 stars, will also be featured on the back cover of the passport.

The only US presidents featured in passports are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln in the double-page portrait of Mount Rushmore
‘As the United States celebrates America’s 250th anniversary in July, the State Department is preparing to release a limited number of specially designed U.S. passports to commemorate this historic occasion,’ Pigott said.
‘These passports will feature customized artwork and enhanced imagery while maintaining the same security features that make the U.S. passport the most secure documents in the world.’
Currently, the only US presidents featured in passports are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln in the double-page portrait of Mount Rushmore.
Other depictions of the US passport feature other iconic American symbols like the Liberty Bell, the Statue of Liberty, scenes of the Great Plains, and Independence Hall in Philadelphia.
Famous quotes from former presidents, including George Washington, John F. Kennedy, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Dwight Eisenhower, are also included on US passports.

A quote from Martin Luther King Jr. is also included on current passports.
In celebration of the 250th anniversary, a series of events have been planned on July 4 and the days leading up to the holiday.
There will be a Times Square ball drop on July 3 and a concert at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Independence Day.
This is a breaking news story.
