Renowned Ghanaian diplomat, Sam Pee Yalley, a former High Commissioner of Ghana to India, is reportedly dead.

The former high commissioner’s death was announced by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s Deputy National Communications Officer, Malik Basintale, in a Facebook post on Sunday, April 6, 2025.

Basintale’s post did not indicate the circumstances surrounding the death of Sam Pee Yalley.

He rather paid tribute to the former ambassador, describing him as a ‘good man.’

“Amb Sam Pee Yalley. You were a good man! We shall meet again someday, H.E., as I always called you,” the NDC deputy communications director, who is also the Managing Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), wrote with a crying emoji.

    About Sam Pee Yalley:

Sam Pee Yalley was a seasoned lawyer and a stalwart of the ruling National Democratic Congress.

He played several roles in NDC governments, including serving as a Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority.

He was appointed Ghana’s Ambassador to India by President John Dramani Mahama in 2014.

Sam Pee Yalley was known for his advocacy, particularly in promoting female leadership in Ghana.

He was the President of the NDC Professionals Forum.

During his tenure as ambassador, Sam Pee Yalley championed Ghana’s interests abroad and fostered strong diplomatic ties with India.
