President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the creative arts industry will receive dedicated funding in Ghana’s next national budget, highlighting it as a key driver of job creation.
Speaking at his first media encounter since returning to office on September 10, 2025, President Mahama emphasised that the creative industry creates jobs faster than other sectors, citing film, music and the arts as areas in urgent need of investment.
“The creative industry creates jobs faster than the traditional sector… So that’s an area in which we have to continue to invest,” he declared.
He promised that allocations will be made to support filmmakers, the music industry, and broader artistic work.

“In the next budget we are going to make some budgetary allocation for the creative arts. The funds to support the filmmakers, the music industry and the arts. We need to put our money where our mouths are,” the President declared.
The announcement comes after a question was posed about plans for the sector and its importance in the job creation for the economy.
Earlier this year, the Ministry of Finance presented a budget which made no mention of allocations for tourism and creative arts; it was , however, indicated that subsequent budgets will capture the sector.
