Popular Ghanaian musician, Kirani Ayat, has publicly disputed claims made by Akwasi Agyeman, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), regarding his willingness to collaborate with the body following a copyright settlement.

In an interview with Accra-based Hitz FM on November 18, 2024, Agyeman said an agreement was reached earlier in the year, with both parties expressing a desire to work together in the future.

Agyeman added that despite reaching out to Ayat and his team for December programming, they have not yet received a response.

However, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ayat accused the GTA of not responding to his manager’s calls, labelling Agyeman’s statements as “lies.”

“This man, he no dey answer my manager’s call. All be lie,” he posted.

    What happened?

Kirani Ayat’s issue with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) began in 2022 when he accused the government of using footages from his ‘Guda’ music video in a promotional “”urism video without his consent.

The video, which was posted by President Nana Akufo-Addo on World Tourism Day, featured scenes from Ayat’s mAyat’sideo.

Following the accusation, Ayat and the GTA reached a settlement, with the GTA compensating Ayat and agreeing to collaborate on future projects aimed at showcasing Ghana.
