Owner of King Faisal Football Club, Alhaji Grusah, has disclosed that his club was sanctioned by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after boycotting a game due to security concerns.

According to his narration, there was a time when his club refused to play matches against Ashanti Gold and Hearts of Lions over inadequate security concerns.

He indicated that when he lodged a complaint about the issue, there was no positive response, which compelled King Faisal to withdraw from the games.

Speaking in an interview with Peace FM, Alhaji Grusah stated that the GFA decided to deduct three points from King Faisal for their refusal to play the match without addressing the security issue they raised.

“Security is not good in Ghana football. The Ghana Football Association hasn’t prioritized security. We have categories of police numbers for the first division and premier division. If you go and they don’t provide the required number, and you protest, they don’t care. If you say there’s no security and you stop playing, the GFA will take the points and declare you the loser.

“It happened to me at Ashgold and Heart of Lions. So, the GFA dosn’t care. During Nyantakyi’s time, too, the same problem existed. When you go to Wa, they’ll say there are no police,” he is quoted to have said by Ghanasoccernet.

He made these remarks while commenting on the demise of staunch Asante Kotoko fan, Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Pooley, who was fatally stabbed during a melee at a Ghana Premier League match between Nsoatreman and Kotoko on February 2, 2025.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) have banned Nsoatreman from using their home venue and initiated a probe into the violent incident.
