Ghana international, Alexander Djiku has emphasised that he is open to playing in any position for Fenerbahce.

The Black Stars centre-back made the declaration on Thursday, October 24, 2024, after he operated as a right-back during parts of his team’s 1-1 draw against Manchester United in the Europa League.

The player lasted 90 minutes and put up a top performance for the Turkish side.

In his post-match interview, Alexander Djiku said he is willing to play anywhere his manager Jose Mourinho wants him to.

“If my coach wants me to play left-back or right-back, I will gladly do it. Of course, my preferred position is a stopper. But as I said, if my coach gives me another task or needs me in another position, I can play there as well,” Alexander Djiku said.

The Ghana defender continued, “After the Samsunspor match, we had to react as a team. I can say that we performed well in the first half. No matter how many opportunities we had, we unfortunately entered the first half trailing 1-0. However, we continued to play our game. We did not give up and achieved 1-1. We could have won in the second half, we got into positions that would have brought victory.”

Gradually under Jose Mourinho, Alexander Djiku is becoming a key man for Fenerbahce.

His impressive performance for the Turkish side in the game against Manchester United proved his versatility even more, having played in midfield during his time in France when he was on the books of Racing Strasbourg.
