Former Member of Parliament for the Manso Nkwanta Constituency, George Obeng Takyi has urged former president Akufo-Addo to accept responsibility for the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections.

According to him, Akufo-Addo is solely to blame for the NPP’s defeat in both the parliamentary and presidential elections and needs to publicly acknowledge that before the party can unite for 2028.

Speaking on Happy FM, George Obeng Takyi also urged Akufo-Addo to personally call people within the party who felt betrayed by his actions in the internal elections and apologize in order for the NPP to be united for future elections.

“Akufo-Addo should accept that he is the reason why the party lost and should also accept responsibility in destabilizing the party during the internal elections. He should call those people and apologize for us to unite for future elections.”

“He shouldn’t hide it but do it publicly for all to see because that is the only way the party can be united else things will get worse by the day,” he said.

George Obeng Takyi added that though Akufo-Addo tried with some projects, his general governance was not encouraging.

“I can’t say he didn’t do anything good, some projects here and there but his governance was not encouraging and that was the major problem.”
