OPBF Female 130-pound title holder Laura Akram (5-0, 4 KOs) successfully captured the vacant WBC Asia Female 126-pound title when she stopped formerly undefeated Pimlapat Roikaew (4-1, 1 KO) on Saturday, May 2, at World Siam Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
This fight garnered significant attention from Thai boxing fans, as Pimlapat is considered a rising star and one of Thailand’s leading female fighters in both boxing and Muay Thai. She recently won a gold medal in Muay Thai at the 2025 Asian Youth Games in Bahrain. However, the fight was not as close as expected. Akram, using her experience and more aggressive fighting style, pressured the Thai boxer throughout most of the first four rounds. The scores after four rounds were 40-36, 40-36, and 39-37, all in favor of Akram.
The fight ended in the fifth round when Akram intensified her attack and unleashed a one-sided barrage until the referee stopped the contest at 1:35.
In the co-main event, WBC Asia #8-ranked cruiserweight Nurbek Valizhonov (7-0, 7 KOs) scored a fourth-round knockout over former WBC Asia champion Panya Chompoophuang (24-18-1, 13 KOs) to capture the WBC Asia Continental cruiserweight title. Although Panya performed well in the opening round, Valizhonov increased the pressure afterward and landed heavy punches, particularly to the body, to take control of the fight. The bout ended when the Kyrgyz fighter landed a vicious left hook to the body that dropped the Thai fighter at 2:42 of the fourth round.
