Lawyer William Kusi, counsel for Daddy Lumba’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, has revealed that she was led to believe that Odo Broni was merely a househelp in their home.

In an interview with Gossip 24 TV aired on October 10, 2025, the lawyer stated that Akosua Serwaa had no reason to suspect any romantic involvement between Daddy Lumba and Odo Broni at the time.

According to him, her belief was based on both what she was told and how Odo Broni behaved in her presence.

“She once told me a story, when she was coming to Ghana, it was Odo Broni who arranged the room for her to sleep in. One day, she’ll get the opportunity to speak on these things. At the time, she thought Odo Broni was a househelp, but later she realised they both had children together. We should sympathise with the woman because she has been through a lot,” Lawyer Kusi said.

This revelation comes as Akosua Serwaa takes legal action against Daddy Lumba’s family head, Transitions Funeral Home, and Odo Broni, following the public announcement of the musician’s funeral date.

In a suit filed at the High Court in Kumasi, Akosua Serwaa is seeking a declaration that she is the only surviving spouse of the late musician. The case was filed through her lawyer, William Kusi of Dominion Chambers, Kumasi.

According to court documents, Akosua Serwaa asserted that she legally married Daddy Lumba on December 23, 2004, under German law, a strictly monogamous union that remained valid until the musician’s death on July 26, 2025.

She has maintained that any claim by another woman, including Odo Broni, to be married to the late musician is “legally impossible.”

As part of her lawsuit, Akosua Serwaa is asking the court to bar Odo Broni and others from taking custody of Daddy Lumba’s body or performing any funeral rites.

She is also seeking an order restraining the musician’s family head, Abusua-Panin Kofi Owusu, from recognising Odo Broni as the deceased’s wife.
