Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has made a surprising revelation regarding the U-20 World Cup investment plan.

According to Badu, only one player from Ghana’s 2009 U-20 World Cup-winning squad benefited from the insurance policy tied to the team’s long-term investment.

This disclosure follows widespread disappointment among the squad over the returns from their 15-year investment plan. Some players have expressed frustration, particularly after learning that part of their money was used to pay for an insurance policy, a detail they claim they were never informed about.

Speaking in an interview with Angel TV, Badu shed light on the situation and revealed that his teammate Latif Salifu was the sole beneficiary of the insurance policy.

“Only one person benefited. My friend Latif Salifu got injured, and when he approached them, he was able to access his insurance,” Badu stated.

Latif Salifu later confirmed this claim in an interview with Happy FM, explaining how he managed to claim the benefits.

“We didn’t know our money was being used for insurance, nor did we know we could access it in emergencies. When I discovered this in 2019, I was injured, so I worked to claim mine to cover my treatment,” Salifu said.

The controversy stems from a $750,000 bonus package announced for the team following their historic triumph at the U-20 World Cup in Egypt in 2009.
