Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana, has defended the government’s decision to run a lean administration, insisting that efficiency, rather than excess, is the best way forward.

Speaking on the matter on Metro TV, Agbana took a swipe at the opposition, accusing them of distorting figures to mislead the public. “There’s a book I recommend to every politician: How to Lie with Statistics,” he said. “It seems some NPP MPs have mastered the act of misleading people with numbers.”

He argued that, despite operating with fewer ministers and a more streamlined government, the administration has already started seeing positive results.

“What we have achieved in just two months with these numbers shows that we are on the right path. We are running a lean and efficient government, and there is no debate about that.”

Agbana further assured Ghanaians that fiscal discipline remains a top priority under the current administration.

He accused the previous government of mismanaging state funds, stating, “Under the NPP, public funds were abused. They promised to protect the public purse, but not only did they empty it—they took the whole purse along.”

According to him, the government is determined to reverse this trend by ensuring prudent financial management.

“This government is focused on stopping the bleeding, ensuring that whatever enters the national kitty is managed properly,” he stated.

Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to good governance, Agbana stressed that their approach is not about slogans but real progress.

“We are focused on delivering real development for Ghanaians, not just catchy slogans. Our lean government is proof that efficiency, not excess, is the way forward.”
