Ekow Vincent Assafuah, the deputy minister, has accused Quaicoo, also known as Oboy, of being the possible mastermind of the deadly fire.
Speaking fervently on Asempa FM, the Deputy Minister implied that the conduct was not arbitrary but rather highly political, driven by tensions following the recent general elections.
Speaking on the disruption of the market’s cohesiveness, Mr. Assafuah said, “Anyone who knows Kantamanto will tell you that these are people who live as one community.”
He disclosed that Quaicoo, an opposition NDC polling agent, had recently encountered financial difficulties after a divorce, which left him reliant on market friends.
The implications were left to simmer as he added, “But because of politicking.”
Eyewitness reports agitated the situation even further. “A woman at Kantamanto told me that she saw this man walking by on Wednesday at about 11 p.m., and shortly after, the market was on fire,” Mr. Assafuah revealed.
“To preserve the privacy of the individual who supplied this information, I will not reveal their name.”
Anger among traders who have lost everything has increased as a result of these accusations, which have spread throughout the trading community.
Although many people prioritize the urgent need for recovery over the origin of the fire, the story of sabotage has left a sour taste in their mouths.
