An Afghan refugee has been charged with the murder of a dog walker stabbed to death in Uxbridge.

Safi Dawood, 22, has been charged following a triple stabbing on Monday afternoon in Midhurst Gardens, Uxbridge, west London.

He was charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and possession of an offensive weapon.

The Afghan national allegedly stabbed Wayne Broadhurst, 49, who died at the scene.

During the rampage he also allegedly injured a 45-year-old man and 14-year-old boy.

The man remains in hospital with life-changing injuries while the teenager has been discharged.

Dawood, who was arrested at the scene, did not know Mr Broadhurst, but knew his other two victims.

Jaswant Narwal, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North, said: ‘Following the shocking triple stabbing which took place in Uxbridge on Monday evening, the Crown Prosecution Service has today announced Safi Dawood, 22, has been charged with the murder of Wayne Broadhurst and the attempted murder of two others.

‘Our prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to court and that it is in the public interest to pursue criminal proceedings.

‘We have worked closely with the Metropolitan Police Service as they carried out their investigation.’

Dawood was assessed when he entered custody and later required hospital treatment after suffering a medical episode.

He has since returned to police custody, where he remains ahead of his court appearance.

Dawood will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

This is a breaking news story more to come…
