The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has jokingly asked the First Lady, Lordina Mahama, to file for divorce from her husband, President John Dramani Mahama.
During the state funeral of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, held on November 28, 2025, at Independence Square, the President was seen exchanging pleasantries with dignitaries present at the ceremony.
As he moved along the line, he greeted and shook hands with the parliamentary leadership.
He was followed closely by his wife, Lordina Mahama. When she reached Afenyo-Markin, she playfully punched his hand in a friendly gesture.
In response, Afenyo-Markin who doubles as the Member of parliament for Efuttu Constituency in the Central region was heard jovially telling her to “file for divorce.”

Lordina Mahama simply continued without responding to the comment and proceeded to exchange greetings with the other dignitaries.
