Ghanaian dancehall musician Stonebwoy has expressed disappointment over the Ghana Football Association’s failure to secure the Black Stars’ qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In an interview with Asempa Sports, the “Jejereje” hitmaker shared his frustration, stating that AFCON 2025 will not be the same without Ghana’s national team.

He emphasised that the absence of the Black Stars will make the tournament less exciting for both fans in Africa and around the world.

“At least, in every African Cup, Ghana has always been one of the most exciting teams to watch. I don’t know what the world will be watching now without Ghana. I know they’ll miss the Ghana team, but it’s unfortunate,” Stonebwoy said.

The musician also urged the GFA to address the issues affecting the Black Stars’ performance, in hopes of improving their chances in future competitions.

“I was at the last AFCON, and I witnessed it first-hand. I enjoyed it, and it’s sad. I can’t believe we didn’t qualify. I’m still in disbelief, but that’s the reality. This shows that we need to work on things with the team, Ghana Football Association. I hope this is taken seriously so that next time we qualify,” he added.

Ghana, a four-time AFCON champion, failed to qualify for the continent’s premier football tournament for the first time since their absence in 2004.

During the qualifiers, the Black Stars could only manage three draws and two losses in a group featuring Angola, Sudan, and Niger, ultimately failing to secure a spot in the 2025 tournament in Morocco.
