The Agricultural Development Bank PLC (ADB) has announced the temporary closure of its branch in Bawku in the Upper East Region due to an escalating security situation in the region.

In a press release issued on November 1, 2024, ADB stated that the decision was made to ensure the safety of both employees and customers as the area faces heightened security challenges.

“We regret any inconvenience caused to our valued customers and assure them that this is a temporary measure,” the bank noted in its statement.

“Operations will resume as soon as the security situation in Bawku stabilizes.” ADB’s decision reflects the reality on the ground: it has been the only bank actively providing services in the area for over a year, following the closure of other commercial banks largely due to similar security concerns.

Despite the branch closure, ADB has reassured its customers in Bawku and neighboring communities that essential banking services remain accessible through the bank’s electronic platforms.

“Our electronic banking platforms are still available, ensuring uninterrupted service for customers who rely on us,” the statement read.

ADB reaffirmed its commitment to delivering universal banking services across Ghana and expressed hope for a swift improvement in Bawku’s security climate, allowing them to resume physical operations as soon as possible.
