Actress Selassie Ibrahim loses husband; mourns him in a social media post 

Ghanaian actress and filmmaker Selassie Ibrahim has lost her husband, former Food and Agriculture Minister Ibrahim Adam.

Ibrahim Adam died at the University of Ghana Medical Centre, Ibrahim Adam died on August 30, 2026, at the age of 75.

On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, Selassie Ibrahim took to her Instagram page to pay tribute to her husband.

She shared a number of photographs reflecting on moments she shared with him.

“Rest well. Our hearts are broken beyond words. Your legacy lives on,” she wrote in the caption.

An animal scientist by profession, Ibrahim Adam held a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Agriculture. His professional background in agriculture preceded his entry into Ghanaian politics and public service.

He served as Agriculture Secretary under the administration of former President Jerry John Rawlings before becoming Minister for Food and Agriculture, a position he held from 1993 to 1996. 

Ibrahim Adam later entered Parliament after winning the Choggu/Tishigu constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress. He served as the Member of Parliament from 1997 to 2001 as a member of the Majority in the Second Parliament of the Fourth Republic. 

His public service extended beyond government and Parliament. He also served as Board Chairman of the Agricultural Development Bank, contributing to the governance of an institution closely linked to Ghana’s agricultural sector.

The couple had two children; a son and a daughter.

Following his death, arrangements were made for his remains to be transported from Accra to Tamale for burial under Islamic traditions. Reports indicate that he was subsequently buried in Tamale.
