Renowned actor Obrempong Owusu Twum-Barima, popularly known as Dr. Rokoto, has made a passionate plea to his community and Ghanaians at large to vote for former President John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming December 7, 2024, general elections.
Dr. Rokoto, who now serves as the Chief of Akyem Aperade under the stool name Nana Owusu Twum-Barima Tiabofre II, cited the principles of democracy and the precedent set by the United States’ return of Donald Trump as reasons why Ghanaians should not hesitate to bring back Mahama.
Speaking at a community durbar, Nana Owusu Twum-Barima Tiabofre II expressed concerns over the deplorable state of roads in Akyem Aperade.
He criticized the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for abandoning critical road projects initiated under Mahama’s administration.
According to him, the contracts signed during Mahama’s tenure to construct these roads were pivotal for the development of the area but have since been left unattended.
“Our roads are in a terrible state, and it is affecting the livelihood of my people. The contracts were there; the plans were made. But this government has turned a blind eye to them. Under President Mahama, there was a clear vision for development,” he lamented.
Drawing parallels with global democratic practices, Dr. Rokoto referenced the example of Donald Trump, who has returned to the presidency in the United States, as evidence that bringing back a former leader is not only possible but also a democratic right.
Dr. Rokoto, famed for his role in the beloved Ghanaian television series By The Fireside, ended his campaign by calin in his people to also vote for the candidate of the NDC as well during the elections.
