Nigerian actor and comedian Ime Bishop Umoh, popularly referred to as Okon Lagos has called on President Bola Tinubu to leverage the US-China trade war.

In an Instagram post, the actor appealed to Tinubu to seize the economic opportunity presented by the ongoing trade tensions between the United States and China.

According to Okon, this is an opportunity the president can seize to attract luxury brands affected by the dispute and have them set up factories in Nigeria.

Note that the United States and China have been slamming each other with tariff increases for a while now.

While the U.S. has raised tariffs on Chinese imports to 245%, China has responded by exposing how luxury brands are manufactured in factories within its borders.

“President Tinubu, please take advantage of this US-China trade war.
Redirect the factories of ‘victimized’ luxury brands to Nigeria. Aba, Kano, Uyo, PH will be ready,” He wrote.

Highlighting Nigeria’s large workforce and cost advantages, he added that, “We have the cheapest labor in the world, and we are a staggering 200-plus million hardworking, good people! Tinubu oooo. Take advantage!!! Mr. President, please swing to action. Abeg.”

His post has sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians applauding the idea and urging the government to explore the opportunity.
