Construction is still underway at the Accra Sports Stadium, with only hours remaining before the venue hosts Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifying game against Chad on Friday, March 21, 2025.
This has raised concerns about the readiness of the stadium, with some fans questioning whether it will be in proper condition for the game.
Earlier this week, National Sports Authority (NSA) boss, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, stated that based on advice from the workers, certain sections of the stadium would be closed off to fans.
However, he assured the public that the venue would be ready in time for matchday.
Nonetheless, a video shared by 3Sports in the late hours of Thursday, March 20, 2025, indicates that maintenance work is still ongoing.
The footage shows renovation efforts on the stairs leading to the VIP and media sections of the stadium.
Following Madagascar’s win on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, the Black Stars now sit third in the standings with nine points, trailing Madagascar and Comoros, who occupy the first and second spots, respectively.
Anything short of a victory could hinder the team’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. As such, head coach Otto Addo will hope his team can perform at their very best.
