On December 27th, a driver tried to escape after hitting a bus stop worker in Accra’s Ablekuma neighborhood, setting off a spectacular scene. Luckily, onlookers acted swiftly to stop the motorist and turn him over to the police.

Witnesses report that the event happened at around 3:20 p.m. The driver, whose identity has not been made public, lost control of his car and struck one of the bus stop personnel. The injured guy was sent to a neighboring hospital for immediate medical attention.

The driver attempted to flee the scene in a startling act of recklessness, leaving the injured attendant behind. A group of courageous onlookers, however, pursued him and succeeded in blocking his way, thwarting his attempt to flee.

The bystanders, who have been hailed as heroes, held the driver until the police arrived at the scene. The driver was subsequently arrested and taken into custody for questioning. The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are reviewing CCTV footage to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
