Music entrepreneur-turned-politician Baba Sadiq recently made history as he emerged victorious in the 2024 parliamentary race for Okaikwei Central.

On his debut on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Baba Sadiq has reportedly ousted the incumbent, Patrick Boamah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in a tightly contested election.

According to the Electoral Commission’s provisional results, the former CEO of 3 Music Networks secured 15,383 votes against Boamah’s 14,949, with 78% of polling stations.

Despite his supoposed defeat, Hon. Patrick Boamah has opted to challenge the results in court, a decision Baba Sadiq finds unnecessary.

Speaking during an interview on Hitz FM on December 10, 2024, Baba Sadiq urged Hon. Boamah to respect the verdict of the electorate and focus on new opportunities.

“I think he must accept the results so we can all move on. It’s within his rights to contest the results legally, but the Electoral Commission’s declaration reflects the will of the people,” Sadiq emphasized.

Baba Sadiq further expressed his surprise that Hon. Boamah, who had been elected three consecutive times by constituents, struggled to recognize the public’s call for a change in leadership. “I would have hoped that someone of his political stature would understand and respect the desire for change expressed by the constituents. It’s important to accept reality and consider other avenues for growth,” he added.

The newly elected MP also commended Hon. Patrick Boamah’s political acumen, encouraging him to focus on advancing within his party or exploring other roles in the political landscape.
