The Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly has issued a strong warning to the general public regarding an unauthorized collection of monies by fraudulent individuals posing as officials of the Assembly.

In an official statement dated February 5, 2025, the Assembly disclosed that certain unscrupulous persons have been calling ratepayers within the municipality and demanding payments via mobile money. The fraudulent activities have been linked to the MoMo number 0534728622, registered under the name Alberta Amenlema.

The Assembly emphasized that it has not authorized any individual or group to collect rates or any other payments through mobile money transactions. Instead, all payments must be made directly to the Assembly’s revenue collectors or designated agents, who will issue General Counterfoil Receipts (GCR) as proof of payment.

Residents have been advised to exercise extreme caution when approached by such fraudsters and to avoid making payments through unauthorized channels.

For verification and further clarification, the Assembly has provided a contact number (0208833397) and urged the public to report any suspicious demands for payment.

The Municipal Co-ordinating Director, Emil Tawiah Atsu, signed the statement on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, reaffirming the Assembly’s commitment to protecting residents from fraudulent activities.
