In the heart of Lagos, Nigeria, a significant moment unfolded at this year’s West Africa Automotive Show (WAAS).

Among the many industry leaders in attendance, Ghana’s own Mr. Henry Okyere Jnr, Chairman of the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association, stood out as he was honoured for his continued leadership and contributions to the West African automotive industry.

Known for his dedication to expanding Ghana’s footprint in regional trade, Mr. Okyere has become a familiar and respected figure at WAAS.

This year’s recognition reflects not only his personal commitment but also the vital role Abossey Okai plays in the sector.

WAAS is more than just a trade show. It’s a movement — bringing together over 300 exhibitors and thousands of professionals from across the continent.

Each May, a new West African country hosts the event, which has become a key platform for collaboration, innovation, and growth in the automotive space. Hopes are high that Ghana will take the baton for next year’s edition.

Speaking after receiving his award, Mr. Okyere said, “This honour belongs to all Ghanaian automotive entrepreneurs. WAAS gives us a chance to connect, learn, and grow our businesses together.”

He led the Ghanaian delegation, reinforcing Abossey Okai’s position not just as a marketplace, but as a driving force in Africa’s automotive future.
