Chairman Buga is a National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party Chairman Buga is a National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party

National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Massaudu Osman, widely known as Chairman Buga, has slammed President John Dramani Mahama for his silence on the violence which broke out during the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun.

Thugs reportedly identified as members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) assaulted some NPP members including former Minister of Fisheries, Hawa Koomson and the party’s Deputy National Organiser.

Many people have condemned the violence and the President has been slammed over his loud silence.

Speaking in an interview on Iqra Radio, Chairman Buga opined that the President supports the assault by members of his party.

To him, President Mahama has failed to show “statesmanship”.

“It has been one week already and it is shocking that President Mahama has been quiet about it and has not condemned the violence.”

“I believe he supports the conduct of his party members that is why he is refusing to condemn it. By his silence on the violence, Mahama has not exhibited statesmanship,” Alhaji Massaudu said.

He continued; “Nana Addo condemned the Ayawaso West Wuogon’s violence and set up a committee and followed up to disband NPP’s vigilante group but Mahama supports the vigilante and thuggery of NDC, that is why he has remained silent about it.”

“But he has to know that being President of Ghana, he is supposed to be father for all, not father for only his party members…And he should also know that power is transient. One day, he will leave the seat just as all his predecessors did and he will be remembered for what he did.”
