The newly constituted Governing Board of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) has been inaugurated, with a call on members to provide strategic leadership, ensure accountability, and help reposition Ghana as a premier destination for tourism investment and cultural promotion.

At the brief but significant ceremony in Accra, the Minister of Tourism Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie highlighted the GTDC’s critical role in the national tourism strategy and charged the new board to serve with integrity, diligence, and professionalism.

“Your role as board members is one that comes with a lot of challenges. This is because the survival, or otherwise, of the institution depends on the leadership you provide,” the minister said urging the board to ensure effective resource management, promote good governance, and strengthen stakeholder collaboration.

In his remarks, Ben Ohene-Ayeh, Chairperson of the Board, expressed appreciation to the minister and John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, for the confidence reposed in them.

He assured that he and his fellow board members would give their utmost to fulfill the mandate entrusted to them.

The newly inaugurated board members are Ben Ohene-Ayeh (Chairperson), Prof Kobby Mensah, Angelo Norkplim Agbodzie, Dora Nanahemaa Adjoa Awindor, Nangeh Adjoba Kyiamah, Zakaria Tanko Musah, Dr Geoffrey Deladem Tamakloe, Awudu Lash Jnr. Baguah and Atsu G Klugah

Also present at the ceremony were the Directors from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts led by the Chief Director, Joseph Kwasi Amoah.

The inauguration comes at a crucial time, as Ghana intensifies efforts to diversify its economy through tourism and cultural heritage development.

The new board is expected to play a vital role in spearheading innovation, attracting investments, and promoting sustainable tourism growth across the country.
