    Abeiku Santana was among the prominent personalities present at a solemn flower-laying and candle-lighting ceremony held at the Jubilee House to honour the eight officials who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash while on national duty.

    In an exclusive video captured by GhanaWeb on August 7, 2025, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Abeiku Santana, was seen overwhelmed with emotions.

    Standing in front of a banner displaying the photos of the deceased victims, he shed uncontrollable tears, visibly shaken by the tragic loss.

    The heart-breaking scene further deepened the sorrows of an already grieving country, with scores of netizens expressing heightened pain and sympathy after watching the video.

    Abeiku Santana was not the only high-profile personality who broke down during the ceremony.

    Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, President John Dramani Mahama, and several others were also seen in tears, visibly affected by the immense loss.

    Since news of the tragic incident broke, various government officials have been seen mourning publicly.

    Among them were the Group CEO of GOIL PLC, Edward Bawa, and the Minister of Interior, Muntaka Mohammed, both spotted in tears at different public events.

    Background

    On August 6, 2025, a military helicopter carrying three military personnel and five government officials crashed en route to the launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) at Black Park, near the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium in the Ashanti Region.

    All eight passengers on board lost their lives. They included:

    Government officials:

    Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah

    Minister of Environment, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed

    Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna

    Former Ashanti Regional minister, Samuel Sarpong

    Former Parliamentary Candidate, Samuel Aboagye
