Ghanaian football legend Abedi Pele visited the camp of the Black Maidens on Thursday, December 5, 2024, as the team prepare for the WAFU B U-17 tournament.

Ghana is aiming to win the maiden edition of the tournament on home soil and has set up camp at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

The three-time African Best Player winner, whose team, Nania FC, was playing a friendly match against the Black Galaxies at the same location, took the opportunity to visit the Black Maidens to boost their morale ahead of the competition.

Abedi Ayew, all smiles during the visit, encouraged the players at their training base. The 1993 Champions League winner was impressed by the intensity and commitment displayed during the training session and urged the team to aim for ultimate success in the tournament.

“I am eagerly looking forward to seeing the Black Maidens dominate the upcoming tournament, and I hope you win it. I am impressed with how well you are executing your coaches’ instructions on the pitch. Stay focused and disciplined,” he said.

Ghana has been drawn in Group A alongside Burkina Faso and Benin. The tournament is set to kick off on December 12, with the final scheduled for December 26.

All matches will be held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
