Ghanaian football greats Abedi Pele and Tony Yeboah have been named among Jay-Jay Okocha’s Top 5 African footballers of all time.

In a video shared online, the Nigerian legend, widely regarded as one of Africa’s most skillful players ever, revealed his personal list of the continent’s best.

At number one, Okocha picked Liberia’s George Weah, the only African to win the prestigious Ballon d’Or in 1995.

He also won the FIFA World Player of the Year award in 1995, breaking European dominance and becoming a trailblazer for African footballers.

Abedi Pele, a three-time African Footballer of the Year and a key figure in Ghana’s 1992 AFCON campaign, was named second on the list.

Abedi is known widely for his Champions League success with Marseille in 1993. He’s widely considered one of the continent’s finest playmakers.

Tony Yeboah, another Black Stars icon famous for his prolific goal-scoring record in the Bundesliga and Premier League, took the third spot.

Yeboah was a two-time Bundesliga top scorer (1992–93, 1993–94) during his time at Eintracht Frankfurt and carved out a reputation as one of Africa’s most feared strikers.

Okocha modestly ranked himself fourth, recognizing the remarkable flair that defined his career.

Known for trademark dribbles, including the 1992 solo goal against Karlsruher SC, he was voted African Footballer of the Year in 1998 and earned acclaim as one of the continent’s most creative talents.

Rounding out the list is Didier Drogba, the Ivorian striker whose exploits at Chelsea and on the international stage made him one of Africa’s most successful forwards, a selection likely reflecting both his scoring prowess and global impact.
