Graham Potter believes Aaron Wan-Bissaka is playing the best football of his career after the wing-back came back to haunt Manchester United yesterday.
Wan-Bissaka’s man of the match display compounded Ruben Amorim and Manchester United’s misery with his hand in both goals in a 2-0 win plunging his former side to even deeper lows.
For Potter, he was the least surprised person in Old Trafford to see Wan-Bissaka put in such a commanding performance, something he was often accused of not being able to do in a Manchester United shirt.
‘He’s been really impressive,’ Potter said.
‘As I’ve said before, I can’t say this categorically because I don’t know Aaron’s career, but I can’t imagine he’s played as well [before] as he has for us at this point in his career.
‘He looks like he’s enjoying his football. He gives a lot to the team, really pleased with what he’s giving to the team offensively and defensively. As I said, it looks like he’s enjoying his football.

‘And that’s not easy because the results we’ve had haven’t been that enjoyable. But nevertheless, his individual performances have been strong.’
West Ham have endured a miserable season but leapfrogged Manchester United with this result with Ruben Amorim accusing his players of having one eye on the upcoming Europa League final.
For all the criticisms of attitude and application from counterpart Ruben Amorim – who fumed at his players’ lack of ‘urgency’ – Potter was brimming with pride at a first away win since February 22.
‘You can talk tactics but it’s about desire and application and sticking together. The player’s attitude and commitment to what we’re trying to do has been first class,’ he said.
‘We have the capacity. We just have to keep working.’
