Legendary Ghanaian actor, Kofi Adu, popularly called Agya Koo, has stirred up social media users with an endorsement of Vice President and NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the upcoming elections.

In a post on his X handle on November 9, 2024, Agya Koo, who is a staunch supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), criticised former President John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing them of corruption and incompetence.

He advised Ghanaians to rather vote for Dr. Bawumia, who he stated was best equipped to handle the problems faced by Ghanaians.

“A vote for John Mahama and The NDC is a vote for corruption, mismanagement and incompetence. Let’s come together and vote for Dr. Bawumia who has what it takes to solve our problems,” he posted.

Agya Koo’s endorsement, however, was met with backlash from netizens who accused him of being dishonest in his statements.

“Are the problems different from the ones we are currently looking for solutions for? The amount of votes DMB gets would determine how many people like their intelligence being insulted,” one user commented.

“As to how we allow such unlettered idiots like this one to also have some relevance in our media space and politics needs to be studied. People like this idiot do not deserve to speak about intellectual issues that they do not have any idea about,” another posted.

Another user shared, “What does this idiot know about corruption.”

Agya koo. Stop these hungry comments. As if Ghana is far from corruption and mismanagement rn. This government has done worse than every government under the fourth republic. Stop behaving like they’ve saved us this past eight years.

I’m d have believed this and voted for @MBawumia if Agyakoo had typed this himself. Let him enroll in a SHS first. You’re tell us voting for @JDMahama is a vote for corruption and mismanagement when you can’t read and write English yourself😂😂😂😂

Governance is a serious business not comedy and it’s the reason the very govt you’re busily campaigning for rolled out the half baked FSHS so your likes can gain some little literacy and be able to make meaning of what corruption, mismgt and incompetent mean, until then go to bed
