The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has clarified the controversies surrounding the funding of his campaign in the constituency prior to his election in the 2024 general elections.

Before the election, there were widespread speculations that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful for the upcoming 2028 general elections had sponsored A-Plus’s campaign in a bid to unseat the then NPP MP.

However, A Plus has explained that although Kennedy Agyapong is his friend, he never sponsored his campaign.

Speaking in an interview on UTV’s United Showbiz on October 4, 2025, A Plus stated, “Kennedy Agyapong is my friend and my brother, but he didn’t sponsor my campaign. Rather, I mobilised funds to support his primaries. I actually supported his campaign, and if he is listening to me, he knows what I am saying.”

Yawson Mohamed of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) came third with 10,112 votes.
