The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has stated that the Ghana Feed Program introduced by the John Dramani Mahama-led government is ensuring fertilizers reach local farmers.

According to him, the program has helped eliminate the smuggling of fertilizers to Burkina Faso.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, September 3, 2025, he wrote, “Thanks to the Feed Ghana Program, fertilizer is being directed straight to our local farmers instead of being sent across the border.”

He added that the Minister of Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has assured that imports of vegetables and grains from Burkina Faso will significantly decline.

“Our Ghanaian farmers are finally taking ownership of our food supply, and there’s a sense of satisfaction among many Ghanaians. The only ones upset in Ghana right now are the donkeys and their owners,” A Plus remarked.

The Feed Ghana Program is designed to support farmers with strategic investments, modern agricultural machinery, and equipment to improve food security, boost production, and create jobs.

Key initiatives under the project include the establishment of Farmers’ Service Centres and Farm Banks within agricultural zones to facilitate land access and irrigation services; the Grains and Legumes Development Initiative; the Vegetable Development Project; and the ‘Poultry Farm to Table’ Project to increase poultry production.
