The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, famously known as A-Plus, has jumped to the defence of the Bono Regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, calling for his release.
Abronye DC was arrested on September 8, 2025 and charged with “offensive conduct conducive to a breach of the peace.”
When he was arraigned before a Circuit Court in Accra on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, he was remanded into police custody and set to reappear in court on September 12, 2025
Not impressed with Abronye’s detention, A Plus took to his official Facebook page and called for his immediate release, positing that people who insult others must not be arrested and detained.
You’re an evil uncomplicated idiot – A Plus insults Asamoah Boateng
“Arresting and detaining people for insults is unacceptable. It is wrong- very, very wrong! #FreeAbronye” he wrote.
If Abronye insults me, I will respond in full measure – A Plus cautions
A Plus, who is advocating that it is unacceptable to arrest people who trade insults or insult others without provocation, has been criticised in the past for publicly launching scathing verbal attacks on others.
Several Facebook users who reacted to his post expressed mixed reactions, with many suggesting that he was only being sarcastic due to his past fierce feud with Abronye.
A Plus and Abronye have previously been at each other’s throats with unprintable insults, which demonstrated a strained relationship between the two.
However, others commented that A Plus decided to show solidarity with Abronye because he is also a culprit of hurling insults at others with the least provocation, or just to express anger and frustration.
