Some people shine quietly, not with noise but with purpose. Charlene Quaye is one of those rare individuals whose life’s work speaks louder than any spotlight ever could. Whether she’s offering a comforting hand as a maternity nurse, guiding young hearts as a school pastor, or writing words that heal, her journey is one of deep conviction and compassion. Now stepping boldly into the world of faith-based film, Charlene is using storytelling to illuminate real-life struggles, offering hope where it’s needed most.

Charlene Quaye: A woman of many callings

Charlene’s life is a reflection of service. From maternity nursing to disability advocacy and school chaplaincy, each role she takes on is rooted in love and faith. She’s also a published author with nine books to her name, using both the written and spoken word to reach lives globally.

    From writing to filmmaking

Charlene began her creative journey as a writer, blessed with a natural gift for words. Over time, she discovered that film could evoke emotion in ways that books could not. This realisation led her to step behind the camera, not to act but to produce films that offer encouragement and hope. Though she occasionally makes cameo appearances in her projects to better understand the craft of acting, her true calling remains in production.

    A faith-driven producer

As founder of Diamond Pillar Productions and Queen Char’s Media Network, Charlene is committed to creating Christian films grounded in real-life experiences. She clarifies that filmmaking is not a get-rich-quick venture, noting, “Most of what I do is purely by faith.” Her productions often begin with little to no resources, growing slowly through divine provision and persistence.

Her films boldly tackle themes many shy away from in Christian circles: therapy, unforgiveness, infertility, domestic abuse, addiction, singleness, and difficult relationship dynamics. For Charlene, cinema is not just about entertainment but about healing, awareness, and inspiring personal transformation.

    The making of Crossing Paths

Her latest work, Crossing Paths, was conceived mid-air after the premiere of her debut film Shades of Grace, which she released on her 41st birthday, November 4, 2023. The film, originally titled Shades of Love, explores the reality of mature singles and the unexpected nature of love.

Production, however, was far from smooth. Charlene recounts how heavy rains disrupted a wedding scene shoot at a carefully chosen venue, forcing a quick location change. Adding to the pressure, four key scenes mysteriously disappeared and had to be re-filmed, leading to unexpected financial and logistical challenges. Despite these setbacks, she calls the process both humbling and fulfilling, saying it was powerful to watch her imagination unfold on screen.

    Balancing faith, life, and film

Based in the UK but producing films in Ghana, Charlene relies heavily on teamwork, constant communication, and her faith. She emphasises the importance of trusting her crew and cast while still maintaining creative oversight. Her approach ensures that her artistic vision does not come at the cost of personal wellbeing.

“What is said of you today will be written about you tomorrow,” she reflects. This mindset fuels her drive to leave a lasting, positive legacy. Charlene’s definition of success is clear: “Living for purpose on purpose.” She often asks herself whether her work would make God proud, a guiding principle in both her personal and professional life.

Much of her resilience, she says, comes from her mother, a single parent who nurtured her creativity and encouraged her to pursue reading and writing from an early age. That foundation shaped her into the woman and leader she is today.

    Vision for the future

Looking ahead, Charlene hopes to collaborate with acclaimed filmmaker Shirley Frimpong Manso. She also has plans for a new film that addresses issues like body image, health, and self-worth among women. She’s passionate about amplifying women’s voices in filmmaking and is excited to contribute to a growing movement of female Christian creatives.

She remains active on social media, engaging audiences via Instagram on her Diamond Pillar Productions and Diamond Pillar Gems pages, and on Facebook and TikTok under her name.

Her guiding scripture, Philippians 4:13 — “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” — remains her anchor through life’s challenges and artistic pursuits.

    Lasting impact

Through her films, books, and counselling work, Charlene Quaye continues to inspire lives across continents. Her mission remains unchanged: to touch hearts, raise awareness, and glorify God through every story she tells.
