Ghanaian socialite Pamela Odame Watara has recounted a traumatic experience involving a close friend she once helped during her prime.

In an interview with Nayas on January 29, 2025, Pamela Odame Watara revealed that during her time of distress, the friend she confided in abandoned her.

She explained that the incident occurred during her pregnancy. The friend, to whom she had failed to disclose her full identity, ignored her when she was in labor, ultimately leading to the loss of her baby.

“When I got pregnant, I disclosed it to a friend whom I had accommodated. Immediately after she heard the news, she told me she was traveling. She left and didn’t return until the very day I delivered. After the delivery, my baby had complications, so I called and informed her about the situation, explaining that my son had been admitted to the pediatric ward. I needed her to come over, but she didn’t.

“I think she realized that she wouldn’t benefit from me anymore since I was pregnant. Even after I was discharged, she never visited me. When I lost my son, she still didn’t visit me. I was so depressed and needed someone to talk to. I would call her, but she always had an excuse. Eventually, I realized it was a lesson I needed to learn,” she recounted.

Pamela Odame Watara stated that due to this painful experience, she now finds it difficult to trust people.

However, she emphasised that she holds no grudge against the friend and is willing to forgive her.

“I don’t have any issue with her. She has taught me a lesson, and I have learned from it. Now, I understand how to relate to people. We should stop relying too much on others. At this point, I have trust issues, so I don’t trust people anymore,” she added.
