The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a stern warning to its members against posting negative content on social media that could tarnish the image of the Scheme or Nigeria.

Corps members were urged instead to use social media to positively reflect both the NYSC and the country.

The caution came from Brigadier GeneralOlakunle Nafiu, Director General of NYSC, on Friday while addressing the 2025 Batch C Corps members at the NYSC Delta State Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku.

A statement shared via the NYSC official X (Twitter) handle noted that any negative social media posts by Corps members would attract sanctions.

In addition to the social media warning, Brigadier General Nafiu advised members to avoid unauthorized travel, strictly follow camp instructions, and respect the cultural values of their host communities.

“Follow simple instructions, be obedient, go for your biometrics and your Community Development Service. Learn and respect the cultural values of your host communities and do not misrepresent us at your place of primary assignment.” He said

The Delta State Coordinator, Mr. John Kwaghe, presented a camp situation report, revealing that 2,101 Corps members 944 male and 1,157 female had been deployed to the state.

He noted that camp activities were progressing smoothly, with full participation from both officials and Corps members, who demonstrated a high level of discipline.

This directive follows a similar warning given by Brigadier General Nafiu to the 2025 Batch C Corps Members in Rivers State, where he urged them to uphold the core values of the NYSC patriotism, integrity, efficiency, transparency, and commitment throughout their service year and beyond.
