The Minister of Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, has hinted that celebrated Ghanaian actor and football developer Yaw Dabo may soon be named an official Ambassador for Grassroots Football in Ghana.

The revelation was made when Yaw Dabo paid a courtesy call on the Minister at his office in Accra.

According to the Sports Minister, just as the ministry recently appointed football legend Abedi Pele to its board, he believes it is equally important to recognize individuals who are working tirelessly at the foundational level of Ghana’s football ecosystem.

He explained that Yaw Dabo’s remarkable contributions through his soccer academy make him a deserving figure for such a national honour..

Hon. Kofi Adams praised Dabo for investing heavily in under-privileged young footballers and creating pathways for them to gain international exposure.

After the remarks of the minister, Yaw Dabo, who was visibly excited by the announcement, expressed joy and gratitude for the consideration.

He thanked the Minister for acknowledging his efforts and pledged to continue pushing harder to uplift grassroots football in Ghana.

Yaw Dabo, born Samuel Nana Yaw Dabo, is not only a celebrated Kumawood actor but also the founder of Dabo Soccer Academy, established in 2020.

The academy, based in Kumasi, scouts and trains young talents from deprived communities, offering them structured football training, education, and mentorship. Under Dabo’s leadership, the academy’s team has progressed impressively through the league system, climbing from Division 3 to Division 2.

His commitment to exposing his players internationally has seen him invite scouts from clubs such as Arsenal to Ghana, and in 2025 he facilitated trials in France for two of his academy’s promising talents.
